Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus, Myrtaceae Family) has balsamic, expectorant, antiseptic and anti-parasitic properties. The active components are the essential oil (cineol, pinene, camphene, globulol, eucazulene) and flavonoids. For external use, Eucalyptus preparations have a good antiseptic and healing effect on purulent skin infections and it is soothing for burns. In cosmetics, Eucalyptus is used as a deodorant and purifier for skin that is dirty or sweaty. A good deodorant and stimulating effect can be obtained by putting a handful of eucalyptus leaves in hot bath water.
